Ipod Touch Screen Problem
Since I wrote my original article about my stepson's ipod and the simple fix for that, a few people have been in contact, having moved on from the ipod nano or straightforward ipod that they were using, to owning an ipod touch and they have reported a variety of ipod touch screen problems.
A couple have experienced problems with a flickering display on darker colours and asked me if I know the solution. I am not a technical wizard and did not know of the issue as no-one in our household has an ipod touch, although we aren't totally deprived and do have well off friends who are the proud owners of ipod touches!
I did a little investigating and found that there are a number of potential causes of this particular ipod touch screen problem. The most likely is something known as "negative black" and the on screen manifestation of this is a patterned or flickering ipod touch screen display, particularly when viewing videos having dark scenes. Apple have now I believe acknowledged that this is a fault with certain screens and have embarked upon a development program to eradicate the problem from future models.
In the short term, you can improve your display by turning off the auto-brightness setting. Having a fully charged battery can also make a difference, although only a small difference. I did read somewhere that applying a light pressure to the right hand corner of the screen can improve the situstion, although only temporarily and franklI would not recommend that approach.
I am sorry to say this is one of those where you ahev to trust in the manufacturerm repostrt the peoblem within your warranty period and eiher ask for your money back, or a replacement that does not have the problem.
Remember, be polite, you need these people on your side and remind them that he problem has been acknowledged as existing in the design by the manufacturer.
Do bookmark this page as I will be adding to it as I discover more Ipod Touch Screen Problems and solutions.
